Court Stops Army Chief From Arresting Tinubu

Justice James Tsoho of a Federal High Court in Lagos has restrained the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Kenneth Minimah, from arresting the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The judge, while ruling on an ex-parte application filed by Tinubu for the enforcement of his fundamental human rights through his lawyer, Femi Falana (SAN), granted an interim injunction restraining the Chief of Army Staff, his privies, agents and servants from arresting, detaining, harassing or intimidating the politician pending the determination of the motion on notice.

The restraining order granted by the judge Thursday also included an interim injunction, which barred the Chief of Army Staff or his privies, agents and servants from further laying siege on the home of Bola Tinubu situated at number 26, Bourdillon Street, Ikoyi.

Furthermore, the military or its agents are restrained from preventing him from participating in the 2015 general elections.
Justice Tsoho had adjourned the hearing of the motion on notice till March 31st.

Tinubu has dragged the Chief of Army Staff to the court to enforce his fundamental human rights and by extension stop his alleged planned arrest.

The news about the planned arrest of Tinubu has been featured in the media in recent times despite repeated denial by the government.
