Historical Photo Of The Day

Gen. Sani Abacha pictured with Yasser Arafat on Sunday, June 7, 1998, a day before he died. Gen Sani Abacha Abacha died in June 1998 while at the presidential villa in Abuja. He was buried on the same day, according to Muslim tradition, without an autopsy which fueled speculation that he may have been executed extrajudicially by way of being poisoned by political rivals via prostitutes.

Yasser Arafat, the President of the Palestinian National Authority and Chairman of the Palestine Liberation Organization died in 2004 at the age of 75 after a brief illness which some say was due to poisoning. The cause of Arafat's death has since been debated, although several different theories concerning it have been suggested.
