Fire Razes Ahor Police Outpost In Edo State

A police outpost at Ahor community in Uhunmwode Local Government Area of Edo State has been gutted by a wild fire.

It was gathered that the inferno, which occurred on Friday, was triggered by a cooking stove left unattended to by a woman identified as Dada Lemo, who lived closed to the police outpost
.
The fire was said to have razed a nearby makeshift store before spreading to the police building.
‎It was learnt that the fire spread rapidly, consumed valuable police documents and reduced the outpost to rubble‎.
Dada, who was said to have been detained by the police, explained that she was shocked that the fire spread to the police outpost in spite of  efforts to put out the fire.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Stephen Onwochei, who confirmed the incident, however, assured that the agency would not be deterred by the incident but would continue to provide security for lives and property in the community.
“We got an alert that our outpost at Ahor has been burnt.
“The security we are providing is still on. Criminals should not think the fire will deter us.”
Meanwhile, some traders and residents in the community have pledged to build a six-room  outpost in the area to restore adequate police presence.
