Iran Offers To Help Nigeria Fight Boko Haram

Iranian government has announced its willingness to use its expertise and experience in fighting terror groups, ISIS and Al-Qaeda in their country to help fight Nigeria's terror group, Boko Haram.

Speaking at the ongoing 4th Assembly of the African Union (AU) Heads of State and Government in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia today Jan. 31st, the Iranian Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister, Amir Hossein Abdollohian their country is willing to help Nigeria and Somalia in combating terrorism.

“Boko Haram in Nigeria and Al-Shabaab in the Horn of Africa are similar with Al-Qaeda and ISIS in parts of the Middle East using similar methods of operations to cause havoc to the people of the two regions. Iran is therefore willing to use its experience in dealing with terror groups to assist in combatting these groups in Africa." he said

Music is a difficult thing to define and individuals have different meanings for this word. However, it is undeniable that music is an art of some sort, a mixture of rhythm, words and acoustics carried through the wind by the magic of the moment in which it occurs.

Some people redefine music and by so doing, define an era by their uniqueness, infectious charisma and undeniable passion for this art.

Oladapo Daniel Oyebanjo, is an enigma that defies all attempts to completely define him. You have blazed a trail in the annals of music on this continent and even beyond throughout your scintillating career.

It has been a journey of ups and downs, breaking conventions and rewriting the rules in your own style and giving people like me the privilege of watching Africa’s Greatest Entertainer. Perhaps even more astounding is the ease with which you have kept audiences on their feet, blowing their minds away with your unique blend of vocal dexterity and life-based lyrics.

Indeed it has been a decade of pure excellence, sheer class and extravagant performances from the Koko Master.

Your rise to prominence is no accident and those who were privileged to listen to you play the harmonica can attest to the hard work, dedication and sheer belief that has catapulted you to the zenith of your profession today.

Asides from your undeniable contribution to the musical industry in Nigeria, it is the impact you have made outside the shores of this country and even the continent that stands you out among your peers. From your maiden award at the 2005 Kora Awards to the well-deserved Best Newcomer award bagged at the 2006 Channel O music awards, it was obvious that the trajectory was only going up from there.

You kept on turning out hits despite the euphoria of past triumphs and the challenge of surpassing previous accomplishments. It is only fitting that you have a trophy cabinet littered with an avalanche of international, continental and domestic honours to show for your laudable efforts.

Moreover, your status as an outstanding entrepreneur is matched only by your passion for youth development in Africa.

The Koko Foundation and the burgeoning ONE campaign are just examples of your foray into the field of selfless service. Every step you take is more than a milestone, signing a lucrative deal with the trendy audio company BeatByDre is more of pace setting as the First African Ambassador of Apple. As Nigeria’s first United Nations Youth Ambassador for Peace, you remain a beacon of hope in this troubled period. There are many ways to describe a man of excellence, a man of many parts, an enigma worthy of adulation and genuine adulation.

I stand in awe of your existence as a human being and all you have achieved against the odds. It has been my greatest pleasure to be one of your biggest fans and to dream that one day, I can attain heights such as yours.

You have proved that the sun can be reached even if the stars seem closer. I want to say thank you for giving me the opportunity to witness your magic at close quarters. Other men it is said have seen the angels, but I have seen thee and thou art enough.

As you celebrate your 10th Year Anniversary in the Music Industry, may God Almighty make you greater as the well of your favour and grace shall not dry. Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown's daughter was found unconscious in a bathtub in her home today and and taken to a hospital.

TMZ reports

Bobbi Kristina Brown's husband Nick Gordon and a friend found her in the tub ... according to police in Roswell, GA. We're told her husband and friend immediately started CPR on her ... until police and paramedics arrived.

We're told police took over life-saving measures on the scene -- and then she was taken by ambulance to a hospital.

Doctors have now stabilized her breathing, and we're told she is in ICU.

Still unclear why Bobbi fell unconscious. We're told a friend made the call to 911 from Bobbi's house.

Chadian Aircraft 'Bomb Borno Town In Anti-Boko Haram Raid'

Chadian aircraft today Saturday Jan. 23rd bombed the town of Gamboru in Borno state in a raid targeting Boko Haram, security sources told AFP. The AFP report below...

An initial raid was carried out around midday by two fighter jets on the town in Nigeria's far northeast along the Cameroon border, sources from Chad and Cameroon said on condition of anonymity.

It was followed by further bombings of areas around the town, Chadian sources said. The raids were aimed at "allowing Chadian soldiers to enter Gamboru," a Cameroon security source told AFP.

Details on damage or casualties were not immediately clear.

Boko Haram overran the town several months ago as part of its campaign to seize territory in the region and create an Islamic state.

"Senior officers from the Cameroon army are located in Fotokol," the Cameroon source said. "The Cameroon and Chadian armies met for the Gamboru operation."

The Cameroon town of Fotokol and its surroundings, just across the border from Gamboru, saw fighting between Chadian soldiers and Boko Haram extremists on Thursday and Friday.

Chad's military said three of its soldiers and 123 militants were killed in the two days of fighting in the area.

According to Breaking Times, an unnamed source who did not want his name in print revealed that the then 26-year old Bartholomew was among three people – including 30-year old Lawal Ojuolape and 29-year old Bernard Ogedengbe – who were notoriously killed by firing squad on allegations of drug trafficking.

The widely condemned killing of the trio in 1985 was criticized because General Buhari back-dated a decree stipulating death sentence for drug trafficking offenders, whereas the alleged crime was committed before he came into power. Buhari changed the law just to kill the three young men.

According to the source, Osuofia and the rest of his family are yet to come to terms with the public execution of their son and sibling, especially.

The source said: “Nkem Owoh and his family are so distraught with Buhari for killing their brother at the young age of 26. Every time he sees Buhari on TV, he weeps bitterly over his brother. He can’t even believe that Buhari has the nerve to seek re-election as President.”

Funke Akindele’s Lawyer Writes Linda Ikeji

It seems Nigeria’s top blogger, Linda Ikeji, has once again, been called out by another celebrity. This time it is actress, Funke Akindele.

Her lawyers on Monday served Linda papers, asking her to apologise for her post on their client, or get ready to go to court. This was in relation to a story published on Linda’s blog. The letter described the blog post as false and has done their client, Funke, injustice.

The whole story started with a perceived bad blood between Funke and fellow actress, Toyin Aimaku. After the story broke last week that Aimaku’s marriage has hit the rocks,

Linda claimed that Funke had gone on social media to taunt Aimaku over her failed marriage. Linda later claimed that Funke had removed the remarks from her social media handle.

This was after many people tried to confirm Linda’s story. Box Office also searched Funke’s handle and found nothing like that.

Linda has, however, sworn that Funke posted it and later removed it. Funke and her lawyers are not taking the matter lying low, as they have given Linda time to apologise and remove the post on her blog. When Box Office reached Funke, she refused to speak on the matter.

Buhari Asks Jonathan For Proof Of Railway Transformation

Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), General Muhammadu Buhari, yesterday, faulted claims by the Federal Government of revamping the Nigerian Railways, saying nothing was on ground as proof.

Buhari said this when he paid a courtesy visit to Oba of Lagos, Rilwanu Akiolu, in his palace at Lagos Island of the state, as his campaign train moved to Lagos.

Annie Unfazed By Tuface’s Kissing Scandal

During the week, a picture emerged of Tuface Idibia kissing his baby’s mother and ex lover, Pero Adeniyi. The picture of the two saw them hugging each other and kissing at a night club. One of the pictures even saw Pero sitting comfortably and Tuface’s laps.

Instantly, stories started flying around that the marriage between the African Queen crooner and Annie is in trouble and was about to hit the rocks.

The whole story was also fuelled by the fact that Annie recently granted an interview where she said that she would not want her daughter to marry a man that already has children from other women. That statement got a lot of negative reactions online, so when the pictures surfaced, it was easy to deduce that all is not well with the marriage.

When we tried to find out the status of her marriage after the exposure of the pictures,

Annie released this statement, “I am aware of the photo’s circulating the internet with my husband and Pero Adeniyi. I want to state officially that I was not in that space at that time and therefore there was no confrontation between myself and Pero Adeniyi. Pero Adeniyi and this momentary indiscretion poses no threat whatsoever to my relationship with my husband. As a matter of fact for all of our children’s sake,

I do encourage cordial relationships with parties involved. This year, my focus is solely on God, Family and my Career which doesn’t give me the luxury of paying attention to any distractions.” Tuface is yet to talk on the issue.
