NDLEA Is Lookimg For Davido

The multiple award winner and OBO crooner, Davido is presently wanted by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

The video of his new international collabo with Meek Mill titled ‘Fans Mi’ which the artiste recently celebrated for hitting one million views on Youtube in 10 days has put him on the NDLEA’s radar.

The music video is said to feature scenes of Davido discussing with an unidentified man as they bargain over a briefcase of dollars and parcels of hard drugs. In an interview with NDLEA’s head of public affairs, Mitchell Ofoyeju said;

“The agency considers the musical video, ‘Fans Mi’ inappropriate and indecent.

It has the tendency to negatively influence and induce drug use and trafficking. Besides, it is counter-productive on the campaign against drug production, trafficking and abuse. The agency is also investigating the matter and will take necessary action,” he concluded.

Also commenting on the music video is popular music video critic, Nuella O’Peters also had this to say; “It’s really outrageous seeing a brand ambassador and a mentor to millions of African youths indulging in such acts.

He even went as far as using the substance for cooking in the video. Can you imagine! It’s uncalled for. I do hope the Nigeria Broadcasting Corporation will do something about the video.”

Nigeria President Buhari Plan On How To Improve Power Supply

This was disclosed in a statement by his special adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adeshina who spoke while granting audience to official of the Chinese Construction Company (CGGC) working on the Mambilla Power project
According to the president aide, it was quite regrettable that power generation in Nigeria had failed to keep pace with national needs over the years.
To salvage the situation, Adesina has disclosed that President Buhari would ensure the Mambilla project and other unfinished hydro-power projects in the country are completed expeditiously to boost power supply in the country.
“I am very much interested in Mambilla and other hydro-power projects, not only for the improvement of power but also for irrigation as both power and irrigation projects will help to improve the lives of Nigerians.
“I am going to ask for details of the Mambilla Hydro-Power Project and others. Very soon, we will get together and redefine the project agreements for faster results,” he said.
Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari has been urged to take a cue from the United State and cancel the Same Sex Marriage Prohibition Act of 2014.

Chelsea Goal Keeper Petr Cech Finally Complete Deal With Arsenal

Arsenal have signed Petr Cech from Chelsea in a deal worth about £10m.
The Czech Republic goalkeeper, who played more than 400 club games in 11 seasons at Stamford Bridge, has joined the Gunners on a four-year contract.
Cech, 33, made only six league appearances last season after losing his place to Belgian Thibaut Courtois.
In a letter to Chelsea fans, Cech said he thought he would retire at Stamford Bridge, but added: “Life doesn’t always turn out the way you think it will.”

He wrote: “Last summer, things changed and I understood I was no longer the first-choice keeper, but I felt it was not the right time for me to go.
“During the season, it became clear that my situation would not improve and – as I know I am not at the stage of my career where I want to be on the bench – I made my decision to move and look for new challenges.”
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger said: “Petr Cech is a player I have admired for a long time and I am very pleased he has decided to join us.”
Cech, Arsenal’s first signing of the summer, could face Chelsea as early as August 2, when the two sides meet in the Community Shield at Wembley, reports the BBC.

Security Guard, Driver Reportedly Killed Former FUTA VC - Police Ascertained

The body of the former Vice Chancellor of Federal University of Technology, Akure, (FUTA), Prof. Albert Ilemobade, was on Sunday found at the generator house of his Ijapo residence in Akure, the Ondo State capital, after he went missing a week ago.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Wole Ogodo, told Premium Times that when the deceased was reported missing last Monday, the suspicion was that he was kidnapped.
“What we have now is that his security man at his house and his driver actually strangled him to death,” Mr. Ogodo said.
“We thought it was kidnapping, but throughout the period, there was no phone call and so there was no contact between anyone and the family members.”
It was gathered that the Police in Ogun State arrested two of the deceased’s domestic staff while they were trying to sell a Toyota SUV Rav4 stolen from his compound.
The suspects reportedly confessed to have murdered Prof. Ilemobade, and dumped his corpse in one of the buildings housing a power generator.
The police had gone searching his house after the confession and found the octogenarian’s decomposing body.
The State Commissioner of Police, Isaac Eke, also confirmed the incident, saying the two suspects would be transferred to Ondo State by the Ogun State Police Command.
The Vicar of the Vining Church, Dr. Ayodeji Fagbemi, who was at Mr. Ilemobade’s residence when the body was removed by the police, said the decomposing body was soaked with diesel.
While describing the incident as unfortunate, he noted that the gruesome murder was inexplicable.
According to Mr. Fagbemi, the  two suspects were the former VC’s driver and security guard, identifying them as Yemi and Daniel respectively.
Speaking of his last moments with the former VC, the cleric said, “We were together last Sunday at the Church and we celebrated together this year ‘s Fathers’ day where he donated his quota to the church. He personally passed his cheque to me.
“I was surprised when the news of his abduction reached me last Monday and we have been praying along with the family believing that his abductors would soon get in touch  with the family only to be informed today that his decomposed body was found in the store.
“We have lost a very great scholar and it is just too wicked for a man of his calibre to have been killed this way. It is a terrible thing and I believe those behind this killing will be brought to book.”

Fola Adeola Resigns As Deputy Chair Of Boko Haram Victims’ Support Committee

Fola Adeola, the Deputy Chairman of the committee on the Victims Support Fund has resigned. According to Premium Times.
The fund was set by the immediate past administration to pool resources and provide support to victims of Boko Haram insurgency and other similar clashes.
Mr. Adeola, a former Vice-Presidential candidate, who tendered his resignation last Monday to the Chairman of the committee, Theophilus Danguma, did not give any reason for quitting.
Mr. Adeola could not be reached for comment as he was said to be out of the country. However, his PR consultant, Jimi Disu, confirmed over the phone that he has indeed resigned from the committee.
“He believes that he has done enough to stabilise the place and get the committee going and he has moved on,” said Mr Disu.
Further probe from people who are aware of the internal working of the committee, however, suggested that Mr. Adeola’s resignation may be connected to some untoward happenings within the committee.

NNPC Generated N8.1 trn, Gave Nigeria N4.3 trn, Pocketed The Balance”

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, generated about N8.1trillion between 2012 and May 2015, but paid only N4.3trillion to the federation account, Edo State governor, Adams Oshiomhole, said Monday, citing new details from the federal economic council meeting.
The balance of the oil money — about N3.8trillion — was withheld and spent by the NNPC unilaterally without approval or National Assembly appropriation, the governor told journalists.
Also, the governor confirmed at the meeting that from November 2014, about $2.1billion was withdrawn from the excess crude account without the approval of the National Economic Council, NEC.

Mr. Oshiomhole, who, alongside the governors of Kaduna state governor, Nasir El-Rufai, and Zamfara governor, Abdulazeez Yari, briefed journalists, said following the discovery, the NEC has set up a four-member committee to comb the books of the NNPC to confirm its remittances and how the excess crude account was utilised.
President Muhammadu Buhari dissolved the board of the NNPC on Friday, to pave way for full investigation of the corporation.
Mr. Oshiomhole said Monday’s meeting was the first time the NNPC and the office of the Accountant General of the Federation, briefed the National Economic Council, as directed by President Muhammadu Buhari.
The governor said Mr. Buhari “compelled” the NNPC to provide information in “black and white” on issues relating to the total sales of Nigeria’s crude oil from 2012 to May 2015.
“This has never happened before and for us this is profound. We are talking about transparency, we are talking about change. And what we saw from those numbers I believe that Nigerians are entitled to know, is that whereas the NNPC claimed to have earned N8.1 trillion, what NNPC paid into the federation account from 2012 to May 2015 was N4.3trillion.
“What it means is that NNPC withheld and spent N3.8 trillion.
“The major revelation here is that for the entire federation — that is the federal government, the states and all the 774 local governments — the amount the NNPC paid into the federation account for distribution to this three tiers of government came to N4.3 trillion and NNPC alone took and spent N3.8 trillion. Which means the cost of running NNPC is much more than the cost of running the Federal Government. That tells you how much is missing, what is mismanaged, what is stolen, they are huge figures.”
He said it had become clear that the NNPC had not respected the Constitution on how government money should be spent.
“If NNPC needs to spend money, it is obliged to prepare its budget like every other business
enterprise. That budget will be scrutinized by the executive and forwarded to the National Assembly and the National Assembly will accordingly appropriate it.
“If the federal government cannot spend without appropriation, why should any agency spend without appropriation?”
Mr. Oshiomhole said President Buhari promised that henceforth, all monies must go to the federation account.
“What you need you budget for, Nigeria cannot continue with you earn the money and spend it. Where is transparency? Where is the role of the National Assembly? So if you were doing that you won’t have a situation where the NNPC alone will spend N3.8 trillion and remit to the federal, states and local governments N4.3 trillion which means NNPC is taking about 47 per cent and that explains all the leakages you are talking about.”
He said parastatals must return to spending on a budget.
“We are not reinventing the wheel, that is the way it used to be and that is the way the constitution says it should”

Dangerous Drugs Produced In Anambra - NDLEA Alerts

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has declared that the most dangerous drugs circulated in the country are produced in Anambra State.

The state NDLEA Commander, Mr. Sule Momodu, who made the declaration on Saturday at the Women’s Development Centre in Awka to mark the 2015 United Nations Day against Drug Abuse and Trafficking, identified one of the dangerous drugs produced in the state as methamphetamine
Momodu expressed worry over the increasing production of illicit drugs, abuse and trafficking in the state and called for a concerted effort to stop the development.
He disclosed that the anti-drug abuse and trafficking agency arrested at least 122 drug suspects between January and June this year. While 114 of them were men, eight were women.
A total of 110.624kg of illicit drug, he said, was seized during the period under review with cannabis sativa known as marijuana topping with 107.26kg.
Other seizures were cocaine, 138.2 grammes, heroine, 100.54grammes, liquid methamphetamine 2.615kg and solid methamphetamine 510 grammes.
The NDLEA commander said the agency also arraigned 22 suspects during the period, out of which eight convictions were obtained while 28 fresh cases were filed.
He expressed optimism that the agency would fight drug abuse and trafficking in the state, asking stakeholders to join hands in the campaign against drug abuse.
Momodu warned that if the war against illicit drug use and trafficking “is not won now, the scourge will take over the society soonest.”
He lauded the state Governor, Willie Obiano, for the support he had given to the agency, especially involving it in the State Security Council and the approval of a parcel of land in Awka, the state capital, for the building of the agency’s rehabilitation centre.
Momodu, however, called for the inauguration of the state Drug Control Committee to help drive national drug control plans and objectives.
The state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Jesophat Akabuike, who represented the governor at the event, restated the state’s commitment to the fight against crime in the state, including drug abuse and trafficking.

Family Disowned Rev Oshoffa, As Leadership Tussles Rocks Celestial Church

Some members of the Oshoffa’s family have disowned Rev. Olatoso Oshoffa as the unification leader of the Celestial Church of Christ worldwide.
This is coming as some elders of the church called on aggrieved parties to sheathe their swords, saying the emergence of Olatoso as the leader of the church was divinely ordained.
Olatoso had presented himself to the public last week after being declared the new unification leader of the CCC by some elders of the church.

Punch
However, at a press briefing on Sunday in Ketu, Lagos State, some members of the Oshoffa family faulted the declaration of Olatoso as the new leader of the church.
The spokesperson for the group, Senior Evangelist Ebenezer Oshoffa, said the family did not support him.
He said, “The family has always avoided public interference in the affairs of the Celestial Church of Christ, founded by our dear father. However, it has become imperative for us to speak out as a family because our son and brother, Senior Evangelist Olatoso Oshoffa, is involved.
“Some self-centered elders of the church have found an avenue for vendetta by installing Olatoso Oshoffa with a lot of unwarranted fallacies.
“It should be known that the family did its best to stop recent happenings. We held meetings for peace and stability of the church. Olatosho was, among other things, asked to retrace his steps.
“Our loyalty remains with Rev. Mibiyina Oshoffa. Our dream is that of a unified CCC, the heritage of our late father, Rev. Samuel Oshoffa.”
Meawhile, in a statement in Lagos, some elders and shepherds of the church urged aggrieved parties to embrace peace, saying the emergence of Olatoso as the unification leader of the church was divinely ordained.
The group, comprising Senior Evangelist Adeola Emmanuel and Senior Evangelist Johnson Olakunle, among others, advised the CCC to embrace Olatoso.
The statement, signed by Senior Evangelist Olakunle, said the church could not move forward without a divinely anointed leader.
The statement read in part, “Following the judgement of the Ilaro High Court which terminated the leadership of our former pastor, Rev. Emmanuel Oshoffa, our great church has been without headship.
“Now that the Lord has chosen a new leader for His church in the person of Rev. Olatoso Oshoffa, we should bury our differences and embrace him for the benefit of all.”

Patience Jonathan’s Ex-Security Aide Killed

A Deputy Superintendent of Police, Tamuno Jacob Igbomie, who was Principal Security Officer to the wife of the former President, Patience Jonathan, has been shot dead by unknown assailants. According to Punch
Igbomie’s corpse was found in his Honda Accord car last Friday along the Airport Road, Abuja. The former PSO, who was married with two children, was believed to have been killed by assassins who shot him at close range in his car and left the engine running.
A source said the body of the DSP was found early in the morning with all his phones, wallet and other personal effects in tact in the car.
“We believe Tamuno was killed by hired assassins because they did not take away anything in his car. His phones and wallets were still with him when his body was found in the car with the engine steaming.
“He was shot in the night and his body was found early in the morning; we don’t know if he was killed over a business transaction or disagreement with someone,” the source who served with the deceased at the villa stated.
It was gathered that the deceased, who hailed from Okrika, Bayelsa State, was serving at the Federal Capital Territory Police Command before he was deployed to the Presidential Villa as Aide-De-Camp to Patience when her husband was the Vice President.
He was later appointed as the PSO to Patience when her husband became the President in 2011. Findings indicate that the late policeman had just been redeployed back to his former position at the FCT Police Command, where he was in charge of posting of junior officers.
The Force Public Relations Officer, Emmanuel Ojukwu, confirmed the killing of the policeman, noting that investigation had started to unravel the assailants.
“Yes, a DSP attached to the villa was killed last week Friday, investigation has started to find out the people behind the murder. No arrest has been made yet,” he said over the phone on Sunday.
The FCT Police Public Relations Officer, Anjuguri Manzah, said the FCT Commissioner of Police, Wilson Inalegwu, had ordered an investigation into the tragic incident.

Buhari Order Arrest Of Wife`s Brother For Money Extortion

According to Sahara Reporters, President Buhari has ordered for the arrest of his brother-in-law for allegedly extorting money from an unnamed businessman. One of Buhari’s close confidantes is said to have revealed the news to the publication.
According to the report, the suspect is Musa Yola, the immediate younger brother of Aisha Buhari. The report further states:
Our source disclosed that the suspect, also addressed as “Alhaji Yola,” reportedly received N300 million from a businessman after promising to provide his dupe with political access to secure an oil block from the Buhari administration. According to our source, Mr. Buhari personally ordered last Monday night that Mr. Yola be produced before him in handcuffs in the company of the businessman he duped.
After telling the businessman that he was stupid to part with such significant cash when he should know that he, Mr. Buhari, would not participate in fraud, the president ordered agents of the State Security Services (SSS) attached to Aso Rock Villa to thoroughly investigate the scam. He also ordered the SSS operatives to ensure that the businessman recovered his money from his brother-in-law.
An SSS source told SaharaReporters, “Alhaji Yola has refunded the money to the affected businessman.” He added: “Alhaji Yola has been released on bail.”

CSO Revokes ADC’s Order To DSS Officials For Presidency Proxy Protection

PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari’s Chief Security Officer, Abdulrahman Mani, has revoked the order by the Aide-De-Camp to the President, Lt.-Col. Lawal Abubakar, removing operatives of the Department of State Services from giving Buhari close body protection.
Mani, in a memo countermanding the ADC’s order, said the DSS operatives should disregard the directive by Abubakar. He said the order was a misrepresentation of Buhari’s directive.
Buhari’s ADC had on Wednesday last week issued a memo redeploying the DSS officials from 10 beats that they had hitherto manned inside the Presidential villa, explaining that the decision to strip the DSS officials of their traditional roles was part of efforts to enhance general security within the villa.
He also claimed that the development was necessitated by “recent events,” which he did not disclose.
The ADC consequently directed personnel of the Armed Forces and the Nigeria Police to take over the DSS officials’ duties of providing “close/immediate protection” for the President with immediate effect.
But in a June 26, 2015, memo by the CSO, a copy of which was obtained by our correspondent on Sunday, Mani directed the DSS officials to disregard the ADC’s order, saying the duties being performed by the DSS personnel in the Presidential villa were backed by relevant statutes and gazetted instruments.
These roles, he added, included close body protection of the President in line with standard operational procedures and international best practices.
He cited Section 2(I )(ii) of Instrument No.SSS 1 of May 23, 1999 made pursuant to Section 6 of the National Security Agencies Decree of 1986, which has been re-enacted as Section 6 of NSA Act CAP N74 LFN 2004.
He said the law empowered personnel of the DSS to provide protective security for designated principal government functionaries.
The functionaries, he said, included but not limited to the President and Vice President as well as members of their immediate families.
He said the law also mandates the DSS to provide protective security for sensitive installations such as the Presidential Villa and visiting foreign dignitaries.
The CSO said it was for that reason that personnel of the DSS near the President were carefully selected and properly trained and that background checks were constantly carried out on them to confirm their suitability and loyalty.
Mani said the issues raised in the ADC’s memo suggested that he ventured into an unfamiliar terrain.
The CSO’s memo read, “In fact, the issues raised in the aforementioned (ADC’s) circular tend to suggest that the author may have ventured into a not-too-familiar terrain.
“The extant practice, the world over, is that VIP protection, which is a specialised field, is usually handled by the Secret Service, under whatever nomenclature.
“They usually constitute the inner core security ring around every principal. The Police and the military by training and mandate are often required to provide secondary and tertiary security cordons around venues and routes.
“However, all other security agencies, including the army, the police and others, also have their roles to play. It is on this note that heads of all security agencies currently in the Presidential Villa and their subordinates are enjoined to key into the existing command and control structure. They are to work in harmony with each other in full and strict compliance with the demands of their statutorily prescribed responsibilities.
“Meanwhile, joint training programmes and other incentives will be worked out in the days ahead to ensure that all security personnel at the Presidential Villa are properly educated to understand their statutory roles and responsibilities.
“This is with a view to avoiding obvious grandstanding, overzealousness, limited knowledge or outright display of ignorance in future.”
Mani asked all the unit and departmental heads to bring the content of his memo to the attention of all personnel for compliance.
He copied the National Security Adviser; the Chief of Defence Staff and the Director-General of DSS.
A source however told our correspondent on Sunday that although the CSO’s directive had been widely circulated, it has yet to take effect as the military men drafted to replace the DSS officials were still at their beats.
The source however introduced another dimension when he blamed a top DSS official in the Presidential Villa for the confrontation.
He claimed that trouble started when the official ordered that soldiers should be blocked from residence reception.
Infuriated by that action, he said the soldiers contacted the ADC who became angry and vowed to report to the President.
“Before that incident, the soldiers have been cooperative and well-behaved. The situation we find ourselves is painful but it is also avoidable,” the source added.
A security expert, Mike Ejiofor, had told our correspondent in an interview on Friday that the ADC’s directive could not stand because it could not be backed by law.
The Presidency had in a statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, on Wednesday, said Buhari had not given any order for the expulsion of the DSS officials from the Presidential Villa.
Adesina however admitted that a reorganisation of security at the seat of power was underway.
