MC Abbey - Upgrading, Comedy Not For Dropout Any More

Popular Nigerian comedian, MC Abbey, in a recent interview, has disclosed that comedy has gradually grown to become a widely accepted profession in Nigeria. He also said the industry has been able to provide jobs for youths in the country.

MC Abbey stated that people now see comedians as professionals, not as school dropouts they used to see them as.

According to him, “People now see us as professionals; we are not dropouts or people who are idling away. It is now seen as a business, our passion and profession and so people see us in that light.”

On the issue of repetition of jokes by some comedians, MC Abbey told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that, “You have to also try not to repeat the jokes that your colleagues have previously rendered, in order to stand out of the crowd.

“You have to be abreast of the happenings around the world and your terrain and to also lecture people on what is right and wrong.”
