Cross River Gov - Weekly Meeting For Exco Has Been Canceled

Cross River State Governor, Prof. Ben Ayade, has hinted that there will be no more weekly state Executive Council meeting. Instead the meetings will be monthly.

The Executive Council meeting is where the governor and his deputy meet with Commissioners, Special Advisers and Permanent Secretaries to   review the activities of government in the state.

The governor who is yet to make the key appointments in his administration dropped the hint during a closed door meeting with permanent secretaries in the state public and civil service.

As he puts it, in place of the weekly meeting, there will be a monthly interactive session in the executive Council Chambers.

The governor in the meeting with the permanent secretaries also scrapped the anti-deforestation taskforce put in place by his predecessor, Senator Liyel Imoke, to checkmate the illegal logging of wood and the large forest reserves in the state for which the United Nations has granted millions dollars as Carbon Credit accruing from the forest reserves.
Ayade directed members of the task force should hand over all government property in their possession to the permanent secretary in the state forestry commission.
