He’s one of the most prolific journeymen in European football and Samuel Eto’o is on the verge of adding another country to his CV after undergoing a medical at Turkey side Antalyaspor.
The newly-promoted Turkish Super League club confirmed via their Facebook page that the striker had arrived in Antalya.
Eto’o has enjoyed a trophy-laden career and had spells in Spain, Italy, Russia and England, while also making 118 appearances for the Cameroon national team.
The 34-year-old began his career at Real Madrid before various loan spells gained him a move to Mallorca.
An impressive strike rate in La Liga caught the eye of Spanish giants Barcelona, where he won six major trophies in five seasons.
In 2009 Inter Milan agreed a deal with the Catalans to swap Zlatan Ibrahimovic for Eto’o plus an additional £33m. After winning Serie A twice, the Coppa Italia and the Champions League at the San Siro it was time for Eto’o to move on again and he completed a £21m transfer to Russian money men Anzhi Makhachkala making him the world’s highest-paid player with a salary of £14.2m.
In the summer of 2013 the former Cameroon international switched Russia for the Premier League, where he had stints with Chelsea and Everton, before signing for Sampdoria in January.
However, after only six months with the Serie A club, Eto’o has decided to move on and is expected to complete his switch to Turkey on Friday.
