How APC Gots 64 Senate Seats And PDP 45

All Progressives Congress, APC, has secured 64 senators to Peoples Democratic Party, PDP’s 45 after Saturday’s presidential and National Assembly elections.

The Senate resumed yesterday from a two-week break to participate in the elections and immediately adjourned till April 14 for lack of quorum.

Some of the PDP senators who lost to APC include Senators Ahmed Makarfi (Kaduna North), Deputy Senate Leader, Abdul Ningi (Bauchi South), Smart Adeyemi (Kogi West), Hosea Agboola (Oyo North) and Zaynab Kure (Niger South).

Following outcome of the polls, which has seen APC take over majority in the Senate, there are concerns over what becomes the fate of the Senate President, David Mark, who has made history as the only senator to be elected for the fifth time since commencement of the current democratic dispensation.

The same fate also awaits Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu.

National Assembly watchers are concerned that Mark and his deputy, who are presiding officers, would relinquish those exalted offices and return to the floor of the Senate, where they would at best hold principal offices as minority senators.

After the botched sitting yesterday, Senate Leader, Victor Ndoma- Egba, while fielding questions from journalists urged Nigerians to remain calm and law-abiding.

“My advice is that we should be lawful in our conducts, we should not take the laws into our hands and election is a process, so no matter the outcome, after the process, we still have further processes so, we should follow the law,” he said.

Commenting on the fate of the 2015 budget proposal, which is now before the National Assembly, the leader explained that the National Assembly has up till June to pass the budget

How PDP Senators Blame Govs For Party’s Failure

Some senators of the ruling Peoples Democratic (PDP) have blamed the poor performance of the party in the last Saturday’s Presidential and National Assembly elections on the recklessness and excesses of the state governors.

The senators, who spoke with our correspondent on condition of anonymity on the performances of their party in the just-concluded polls, attributed the party’s woes to self-inflicted problems and impunity on the part of their leaders, with particular emphasis on the state governors.
One of such senators, who is also a ranking member of the Upper Chamber from the North Central, alleged that the party surrendered its structure to the state governors, the development he said led to anger and frustrations among party members. He said the only way to express dissatisfaction was through protest votes which heavily profited the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC), in the general elections held across the country four days ago.
In another development, an APC Senator representing Osun Central, Prof. Sola Adeyeye expressed satisfaction with the voting pattern in the South-West. He said: “The South- West has shown itself again. From 1951, the South-West has never been monolithic.
The only time that the South-West came close to being monolithic was 1979.” He further noted that the South-West in the 50s was split between the Action Group (AG) and the National Council for Nigerian Citizens (NCNC). His words: “When you look at the votes return from the zone, you see the only place in the South where there is pluralism of choice. In the South- East and South-South where 90 per cent are voting, for one party, you ask yourself, what kind of democracy is this. “I am proud that the South-West has continued to live in tradition of political liberalism where from the same community, you can have 55 per cent to 45 per cent.
That was how it was with Azikiwe and Awolowo. “Zik, an Igbo man, was contesting from the Mushin area of Lagos in Yoruba land. Zik almost became Premier of Western Region in 1952. “The wish of the people must prevail in this election. Anybody who does not allow the will of the people to prevail, would be consumed by the wrath of the people and would become history.
The winner must be declared to avoid chaos.” Meanwhile, the current configuration of members of the incoming 8th Senate has changed based on the National Assembly election results, which would now make the APC emerging as the majority party in the apex chamber. Based on the available results, the APC would now tentatively have 63 members; PDP, 46.

Result For Presidential Election: So Far, Buhari Takes Leads

ABUJA — Erstwhile Head of State, Major-General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd) was last night sustaining his lead over President Goodluck Jonathan in the declared results of the presidential elections released by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, last night.

President Jonathan has, however, protested results declared from Kano, Jigawa, Kaduna, Gombe, Bauchi, Katsina and Kogi States, alleging malpractices.
Jonathan’s protest articulated by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, was, however, followed by another statement late last night in which it claimed it was not perturbed by the results from the North-West, stronghold of Buhari.
Buhari’s All Progressives Congress, APC, has also protested the results submitted from Rivers State on the basis that there was no election in the state.
As at the time the commission suspended announcement of results late last night, Buhari had scored 10,101,497 votes from 21 states and the FCT, to President Jonathan, who has so far polled 6,798,254 votes, to second place.
The results were declared by the returning officers from the states.

Lolz: See how Nollywood Actors Fight Over Dame Jonathans’ N3M ‘Political’ Largesse

The recent visit of First Lady Dame Patience Jonathan to Enugu has left a big scar on Nollywood. This is because the police in Enugu are currently looking for ways to settle the bitter feud that engulfed the artistes’ community in the state over how an alleged First Lady’s largesse would be shared among top actors who attended her rally.

This feud has seemingly put one group known as Nollywood Apostles against other stakeholders in Enugu State led by Patience Ozokwor popularly known as Mama G, making it very difficult for the center to hold.
As at last Thursday, some of Nollywood’s big wigs involved were still angry and had refused to show up at the Police Area Command, Abakpa Nike, Enugu where the case was domiciled. The Area Commander had arranged for them to settle the matter amicably.
Checks reveal that Nollywood Apostles comprising some of the best faces in the movie industry including Steve Ajebo Eboh, Charles Awurum, Emeka Enyiocha, Benedict Johnson, Chinwe Owoh, and Ngozi Ezeonu among others had been featuring at several PDP campaign rallies including the one that brought Dame Jonathan to Enugu.
According to a source, trouble started after the departure of the First Lady when facilitators of the rally, Patience Ozokwor and Chinyere Wilfred were on stage giving the vote of thanks. An aide to Dame Jonathan had allegedly dropped a parcel containing N3 million into the hands of one of the actors, which he quickly cornered with the connivance of his fellow ‘Apostles’. But the cookies crumbled when the aide called Mama G aside and intimated her of the monetary gift and to whom it was handed.
“The real drama started when the actor who collected the parcel was about to zoom out of the venue in his car. Mama G re-enacted her screen roles for real. In her view, the money was meant for all the stakeholders who graced the rally and not only for the Nollywood Apostles. Mama G stood in the way of the car, yelling and asking to be crushed just as she sent someone to call the police. She didn’t mind being called witch, ashawo and all sorts of unprintable names. She blocked the car until the police came and took all the parties to the station,” a source says.
However, Steve Eboh has denied ever being involved in such a show of shame. He told Entertainer: “I never had anything to do with any money or anything like that. Don’t mind them, my brother. As I speak with you now, I am on my way to see Father Ede in Elele, Rivers State.”
For Charles Awurum, who later returned this reporter’s call after several phone calls made to him, it was denial all the way. Hear him: “I don’t know about any issues concerning Dame Jonathan’s money. I am in Port Harcourt now, please.”
On her part, Patience Ozokwor confirmed the story but she wouldn’t want to elaborate further, until after the elections. “The police have invited everyone to the station for settlement,” she volunteered.

‘I Want A Mini Me…Cute Little Princess That I Can Leave All My Bags To’ - Omoni Oboli

Nollywood actress Omoni Oboli says she is seriously considering having another baby.
She shared her thoughts on her personal blog in an article titled ‘Robbing Peter to Pay Paul 2’.
The mother of 3 handsome boys wrote:

In recent times I have been thinking about having a baby…apart from the fact that my husband doesn’t want another child, (I am sure if I press him he will grudgingly approve. You know how women know how to have their way! Shhhh…don’t tell him) I’m not even sure I have the energy to go through 9 months actually 10 months if you get to full term cos 40 weeks is 10 months and not 9! I don’t think after 10 years (my last son is 10 in a few days) I can handle all the sleepless nights.
She then added:
I seriously am considering another baby. I don’t know why I am brooding at the busiest period of my life so far but, it is what it is. I want a ‘mini me’. A cute little princess that I can leave all my bags to…you know I love bags right? Lol! The problem is, I think I missed the ‘how to have a baby girl’ class so if you know any fool proof natural sex selection methods, please share while I consider. Thanks.
Also on her Instagram page, while celebrating one of her sons who turns 10 today, she wrote:
10 years ago, in far away England, a Prince came into this world! My 3rd son Chizi made a grand entrance a few days past his due date.
I was tired and anxious and I couldn’t wait to push him out! I remember the midwife saying if labour and delivery was that easy, she would have had 12 kids! Even though I was tired, I was excited! I had prayed for a girl, but the all knowing God gave me a boy. We even had a girl name (Adanna) so when my son came, we had to quickly think of a new name.
So we named him Chizi (God sent). His oldest brother Tobe pictured above looking at him said ‘mommy, this is not Adanna’ I love Chizi with all my heart and I am so glad God sent him to us.
He tugs at my heart in ways I cannot explain! In recent times, I have become somewhat broody, thinking about another child. I started and finished child bearing very early in life and not sure if I can pick it up again after 10 years but…anyway Happy birthday my Chibubu! You already know mommy loves you! May God bless and continue to make you a blessing to your generation. May you remain in good health and may God give you wisdom beyond your years in Jesus name…

How Bangladesh Blogger, Washiqur Rahman Killed In Knife Attack

A blogger has been knifed to death in the Bangladeshi capital, Dhaka, coming a month after a prominent atheist writer was killed in a similar attack. BBC has more:
Washiqur Rahman was attacked close to his home in Dhaka’s Begunbari area, a police official told AFP news agency. Two students at an Islamic seminary have reportedly been arrested.

Last month, Avijit Roy, a US-based writer who had criticised religious intolerance, was killed in a machete attack while he was visiting Dhaka. His death sparked fresh concerns for freedom of speech in Bangladesh, where several secular-minded writers have been targeted by militants.
Mr Rahman was killed on a busy street in Dhaka. Two of the suspected attackers, armed with meat cleavers, were caught near the scene. The suspects told police they had targeted Mr Rahman because of his anti-Islamic writing, a police official told the Associated Press news agency.
Mr Rahman blogged under a pen-name, Kucchit Hasher Channa, or Ugly Duckling. According to the Dhaka Tribune newspaper, he had criticised irrational religious beliefs.

The 14-time major winner and former world number one, 39, has slipped to 104th in the rankings.

His last major title was in 2008 at the US Open but has won five PGA Tour events in 2013. Woods, who topped the rankings last May, has not played since early February when he withdrew from the Farmer’s Open due to a back problem.

‘Another Shining Hip-Hop Star Olamide Walking The Path Of Destruction’?

If there is somebody that is really making it big as far as the entertainment industry is concerned for now, it’s definitely Hip-hop act, Adedeji Olamide, famously addressed as ‘King Badoo’.
The YBNL crooner came from nowhere, a struggling artiste, to become a superstar and his impact was felt by music pundits both within and outside the country.

However, the highly revered artiste have a nasty habit of drinking.
The talented rapper love with alcoholic drink is getting worrisome as he consume and brings it out at the slightest opportunity without giving a hoot about the place, time, who is around or who is watching.

A concern party who prefers to remain anonymous revealed thus:
‘ Olamide drinking habit is getting out of hand and we pray he doesn’t end up like those entertainers that ends up their life in a controversial manner all because of their drinking habit.
Have been on set of his musical videos close to four times and I was marveled at the way he consumes alcohol. He cannot even perform on stage without the intake of alcoholic drinks.
In fact, he has even graduated to flaunting this act in most of his musical videos and the ones he featured on.
Those that were sitting next to him at the just concluded 2014 Headies Awards were practically stunned at his love for hot drinks. He got to a point that he was so drunk and he started misbehaving. The climax of the whole show of shame was when he was called on stage to receive his plaque as the Best Rap Album Artiste of the year; he went on stage with a cup filled with alcohol.’ The source squealed.
The source further divulged that ‘ we know drinking and getting high to enhance their performances is part of the game but he needs to slow it down a little more as thousands of youth look up to him as their role model’ the source concluded.
Although, he has the right to live his life the way it pleases him, however; he needs to put into consideration the health implications of his act.

A word they say is enough for the wise.

Secure Volatile Areas Before Release Of Election Results - CAN

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has advised that adequate security measures be put in place in volatile areas across the country before the announcement of election results.
CAN’s Chairman, North-east Zone, Rev. Shuaubu Byel, made the suggestion in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday in Bauchi.

Byel said the measure would help in averting post-election violence, especially in regard to the outcome of the presidential election.
“Past experience clearly showed that post-election violence erupted immediately the result was announced, particularly the presidential election result.“That was what happened in 2011; we should learn from past experience.”
Byel commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for conducting a peaceful and successful election, with just minor hitches caused by the malfunction of the card readers in some areas.
He equally commended the electorate for coming out en-masse to exercise their civic right.
According to him, this is a clear indication that Nigeria’s democracy has come to stay and is gradually growing to maturity.  “The process was generally peaceful, people turned out en-masse, like never before in the history of elections in this country, usually characterised with apathy.” The chairman urged politicians, as well as the electorate, to embrace the outcome of election in good fate and accept it as the will of God.
“Contestants and the supporters should embrace the spirit of sportsmanship.
“Anyone who loses should accept the outcome and try again another time. “The person that won should return God’s favour by being a good leader and a true representative of the people,” he advised.

I Am Frustrated At Real Madrid - Chicharito

The Manchester United loanee has started once in 13 La Liga appearances this season, scoring three times in 228 minutes of action.

Speaking after scoring the match winner in Mexico’s 1-0 win over Ecuador in Los Angeles on Sunday, the 26-year-old sent a message of “frustration” to Real.

“What I’ve been feeling is frustration,” he told Fox Sports. “The worst thing could be to lose my confidence.
“I have missed opportunities, people to give me confidence to demonstrate what I can do on the pitch, to at least prove if I am any good or not.”
Chicharito is on loan at the Santiago Bernebeu until June, when he is expected to return to his parent club United. He however reiterated his pride in playing for the reigning European champions but stressed his dissatisfaction at not getting playing time.
He continued: “My situation is frustrating. I work hard and give 100 per cent in training but as far as playing matches go, my chances are minimal.
“I belong to a great team but I’m not part of the important bit, the actual games. Sometimes my confidence is down, even though I’m trying to make it high, with the help of the people who are always by my side and who support me.”
