Ban on AIT: Stay Within Your Defined Area Of Responsibility, Buhari Tells Overzealous Aides

Nigeria’s president-elect Muhammadu Buhari, has instructed all his staff, including the personnel attached directly to him, to steer clear of all dealings with the media, and leave all media affairs to his official media team.
In a statement in Abuja on Wednesday, April 29, by the Directorate of Media and Publicity of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Mr. Buhari aligned himself with the pronouncement of his party, the All Progressives Congress, APC which had earlier expressed disagreement with the temporary barring of the African Independent Television (AIT) from covering his activities.
“I would like everyone to henceforth stay within his/her defined area of responsibility”, Mr. Buhari said.
The president-elect added that his media team should be left to continue to deal with their media colleagues in the best possible way.
According to the statement, Mr. Buhari was neither consulted nor informed about the AIT barring, and only became aware of the matter after the public uproar it generated.
“The time of CHANGE has come,” he said, “and we must avoid making the same mistakes that the outgoing government made”.

FG Warns President-elect, You Are Not In Office Yet

The Federal Government has warned President-elect,Muhammadu Buhari to stop acting like he’s running a parallel government while President Goodluck Jonathan is still in office.

The FG also warned Buhari against unguarded utterances and actions which made it seem like Jonathan’s government as being marched out.

The comments were made on Wednesday, April 29, 2015, by the Minister of National Planning, Abubakar Sulaiman, at the end of the weekly Federal Executive Council meeting in Abuja.

“The incoming government should avoid creating a parallel government while the government is still on. We take exception to some utterances and some of the terms of reference that look as if the current government is being stampeded or intimidated,”Sulaiman said.

“When the incoming government takes over government, they can come out with their programmes; they can come out with their own agenda and they can decide to come out with policies in the way they feel like,” he added.
Sulaiman also said that Jonathan’s “magnanimity should not be taken as a sign of cowardice.”

Jonathan is said to hand-over to Buhari on Friday, May 29, 2015.

Photos: Women and Children Rescued From Sambisa Forest

Here are some pictures of the women and children that were kidnapped by Boko Haram, and rescued by the Nigerian Military over the past few days.

A spokesperson from the Nigerian Military stated that they were not the girls kidnapped in Chibok over a year ago. “Additional number of persons are still being recovered from the forest. Until such comprehensive profiling is done, nobody can confirm whether they are among the Chibok girls or not.

Whoever they may be, the important thing is that Nigerians held captive under very severe and inhuman condition have been freed by our gallant troops.” We’re glad they are finally out of captivity and can begin to heal, and lead a normal life.

Photos of Aridolf Hotel In Bayelsa State Allegedly Owned By First Lady Patience Jonathan

The Aridolf hotel in Yenagoa is an unlikely monument to kitsch on a reclaimed swamp in Nigeria’s oil-producing Niger delta. In the lobby, Louis XIV furniture is accompanied by bowls of plastic fruit, faux Dutch landscapes and a grotesquely gaudy chandelier. The hotel is redolent of the riches on display in a region that for half a century has generated the bulk of Nigeria’s wealth.

Why I Want To Succeed Mark As Senate President – Binta Garba

Senator-elect representing Adamawa North Senatorial District on the platform of All Progressives Congress, APC, Binta Masi Garba, said on Wednesday that she wants to make history as the first female Senate President in the country.

According to her, as the only female Senator from the North, her interest to contest for the office of the President of the Senate was to bring transparency and openness in the leadership of the red chamber.
Although the leadership of APC is yet to decide which geo-political zone in the North to zone the senate presidency slot to, the north east and north central are in pole position to clinch the number 3 position in the country.
Senators Bukola Saraki (Kwara) George Akume (Benue) and Ahmad Lawan (Yobe) are seen as leading contenders for the position.
Throwing her hat into the ring, the three term member of the House of Representatives from both Kaduna South and Michika/Madagali Federal Constituencies, told journalists in Abuja that she has written to all her colleagues and other Nigerians on the need to support her candidacy to emerge as the first female Senate President in Nigeria.
“Apart from the fact that I’ve held several positions as a lawmaker in the House of Representatives, I am the first female Chairperson of any public party in Nigeria haven been elected as the Adamawa State Chapter Chairperson of the APC in April last year. I am still holding that position till today and the unity I brought to the party brought about the successes we recorded in the recent general elections.
“As a delegate member from Adamawa State at the National Conference, I served on the committee on Political Restructuring and Forms of Government. I know what Nigerians need when it comes to lawmaking and leadership. It’s time for all to support the female folks to be at the fore front of decision making in Nigeria”, she said.

Fuel Queues: FG Begins Payment Of Subsidy Today

The federal government hinted on Wednesday that it will commence payment some of its liabilities, including subsidy to oil marketers in order to clear queues from fuel stations across the country.
Minister of Information, Mrs. Patricia Akwashiki who disclosed this after he Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting noted that the outgoing government led by President Goodluck Jonathan has the capacity of handling fuel problem and must not wait for the incoming Muhammadu Buhari government to fix it.

She said, “I want to assure that we have enough fuel to supply and the problem is not that we do not have fuel on ground, we have a problem with the tanker drivers and it borders on non-payment.
“But from tomorrow, the coordinating minister of the economy is going to start paying of some of the liabilities we have in that sector and it will ease off. But we do have enough fuel on ground to last us for 27 days that I can assure you even if we are consuming four million liters per day.
“But the problem we have is logistics and the problems with the unions and non-payment. So you don’t have to wait for Buhari Administration to fix it, we can fix it and we have been fixing it.”

Rescued Girls From Damboa Not Chibok -- Borno Govt

The 293 women and girls, rescued from the Boko Haram stronghold in Sambisa Forest, were from Bumsiri Village in Damboa Local Government Area of the state and not from Chibok, according to an official of Borno state government.
State Commissioner for Information, Dr. Mohammed Bulama, made the clarification Tuesday and also commended the Nigerian Army for rescuing the female captives of the terrorist Boko Haram group.
“These girls and women rescued are still our daughters as much as the Chibok girls and we have to commend the military for liberating them, hoping that the rest will equally be liberated.
“Though everyone had thought they were the Chibok girls because of the hype surrounding the abduction of the girls, but we should not lose sight of the fact that they are as important as the Chibok girls and those that are still in captivity, which we hope would be liberated soon.
“But at the moment, we are looking up to the time the 293 women and girls would be handed to us so that we can begin the process of rehabilitating and reintegrating them back into the society.”
The Borno State Governor, Alhaji Kashim Shettima, also commended the military for rescuing the women.
According to a statement issued on his behalf, the military’s operation that led to the liberation was “gratifying regardless of whether or not the rescued women were part of the over 200 schoolgirls stolen by insurgents at Government Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State, on April 14, 2014.”

Pacquiao Sees Fist Of God Hitting Mayweather

Filipino boxing hero Manny Pacquiao is confident he can beat American arch-rival Floyd Mayweather in Las Vegas on Saturday with the power of God, after abandoning a life he said was packed with sin condemning him to hell.
Pacquiao is in top form both in mind and spirit after he traded his boozing, gambling and womanising ways for a devout life of prayer, his spiritual adviser, Jeric Soriano, told AFP in a recent Manila interview.

“Manny is a God-fearing man. Inside his heart of hearts he really loved God. Except the world got to him,” Soriano said of Pacquiao’s party-boy lifestyle before he became born-again in 2012.

Pacquiao now dreams of becoming a pastor and is building a 6,000-square metre (1.5-acre) “worship house” in his southern Philippine hometown of General Santos as a monument to his spiritual rebirth, Soriano said.

4 Very Important Things Ladies Should Know About Your Breasts

Just like the way you guard your faces against wrinkles, spots and all, the breasts can be placed on checks, in order to guard against sagging frames and crinkly cleavages and some other chest-related anomalies. According to Steve Horvath, a geneticist at UCLA’s medical school in the US, different parts of the body age at different rates. “Healthy chest tissue,” he says, “is about two to three years older than the rest of a woman’s body.” Which makes it even more important to prevent your torso from ageing. Here’s a list of factors to keep in mind when it comes to your breasts…

The wrong bra size
Over 80 per cent of women have been believed to be wearing ill-fitting lingerie, this can contribute to sagging breasts, bad posture, back pain or even abrasions and rashes. Several factors including weight loss or gain, medication, contraceptive pills, the menstrual cycle, pregnancy and menopause can affect chest size. It’s important to buy new bras every year to make sure you have the correct size. Get an in-store fitter to measure you. And never forget to wear a sports bra when you exercise.
Lack of nutritious food
To a large extent, the foods we eat has a way of taking their tolls on the body. This means that a diet lacking in essential vitamins and minerals may show in the condition and the outlook of our skin. Foods rich in Vitamin A help in nourishing the delicate skin in the chest area and other parts of the body. Vitamin C is also good for collagen production and vitamin E is great for skin production.
Alcohol overdose
don’t just think about foods, the wines you take, (especially alcohol) and its quantity affects your breasts drastically. Alcohol can triple the oestrogen levels in a woman’s body. A lot of chest cancers are hormone-sensitive and having higher oestrogen levels could cause cancer cells to multiply. By minding oestrogen levels, you reduce your potential risk of oestrogen-related cancers. There is need for you to watch the level of alcohol intake.
Neglect moisturising
A wrinkly decolletage can really age you. The bust is an area we often neglect as we focus on our face. But chest are exposed to friction from clothes and underwear which can end up chaffing the delicate skin. It is worth investing in products to help combat that. Any cream that has almond oil, cocoa b*tter or evening primrose oil will help keep the bust area soft. Skin on the neck and chest gets almost as much sun as the face and, being much thinner than skin elsewhere, it is more prone to showing the tell-tale signs of ageing. So, use a sunscreen that’s suitable to your skin.
